He makes it!

He makes it!

Not too much going on here. Oh wait, yes there is! Nothing monumental, though. Mostly working around my physical therapy, which is 3 times a week. My ankle feels more stable when I walk without my brace, so I think it's helping. I'm finishing up my class this week, and need to seriously clean my house for the Superbowl party. Yuk! I think there must be a secret dust manufacturing plant in my house. That and getting ready for the Valentine's parties at the kids' schools.

N made a basket last week during his basketball game. It wasn't his first one, but it was the first one when I had my camera ready...He is the blue shirt #4 in the video. As I type this, A is loving her Dora movie from the Library.
"Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping! Swiper, no swiping!" " Oh, maaaaaaaan!"
"I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map, I'm the map... I'M THE MAP."
"Backpack! Backpack! Backpack! Backpack! Yeah!"
Sheesh! Who comes up with this stuff? Although I must admit, it *is* better than PeeWee's Playhouse. *shudder* Well, the bus is here and I must start dinner.

Cheerio!

Jump!

Well, here's another trip down memory lane. This was the day N finally realized how to keep himself upright in his "super suit" (I called it that because that's my favorite part of the Incredibles, when Frozone needs his super suit and is wife won't tell him where it is...that is hilarious!). He must have gone off the diving board 50 times in a row, all while holding the green turtle thermometer. Where have the last 4 years gone?

Anyhoo - I started PT for my sprained ankle, which is 3x a week for a couple of weeks (dr. ordered 4, therapist thinks 2 might cut it, so we'll see). I'm also in week 2 of another online class for me recertification. One more week to go! This week N brought home a joke book from the library. Who needs waterboarding as a torture technique when you have a barely literate 7-year-old butchering jokes NON-STOP? It wouldn't be so bad if he could read better. I get things like, "What...did the...sp...sp....sp...spingle...say when he got...murred...at the...g...g...gostel?" Don't get me wrong - I'm glad Mr. "I don't really like school" is having fun reading, but does it have to be so painful? A lesson in patience, I guess...

Well, I'm not sure what to post, so some days I may just travel back in time and relive the good old days (as opposed to the good new days!). Enjoy!

This is only a test...

A Tale of Two Cameras

I wanted to show you a picture of my new baby:

This is my Christmas present: A Canon Rebel XSi 12.2 mega-pixel DSLR camera. Yes, I have graduated from the point-and-shoot to the grown-up camera world! Today I have had it for 4 weeks and I have taken 1500 pictures. Needless to say, I've been *slightly* busy editing all those pictures...I wanted to show you some go-kart pictures I took.

OK, it might be hard to tell, but I had a hard time focusing on this one, and once it did focus it took a moment to actually take the picture. Very difficult with a fast-moving target.

See how much more focused this is? And I'm still figuring out how to use it! Anyway, I really stoked (haha - there's a word you don't hear much anymore -thank goodness!)! And having too much fun!

Yay me!

Copper2-090, originally uploaded by jen_lancaster.

Yay! I just figured out how to link my Flickr account and my blog! Before I had to save each picture I wanted to post in a web-friendly (read low resolution and small-sized) format and upload each one to the blog. Now to figure out how to post more than one picture in a post...

Anyway, as my test I chose a rather cool shot I took in Copper Mountain. There are mountains you can't see because the snow was so heavy. I love the bokeh effect I got with the snowflakes!!

edit - Hmmm...it cut off part of the picture. I'll have to adjust my settings...

edit part deux - Settings adjusted, we'll have to see if it worked.

Overheard

Yesterday I was filling out a form that stated whether N would be going back to the same school next year. When I explained what it was to him, he stated he didn't want to go back next year. Hmmm, I thought, I wonder if something's going on? So, I asked him where he wanted to go next year. His response,

"Well...I don't really like school."

It's gonna be a long 11 years until graduation...
